A major development downtown has signed a new tenant that will provide physical therapy services.

The Center for Physical Rehabilitation, or CPR, said yesterday that it plans to open a new clinic at Arena Place in Grand Rapids, at 55 Ottawa Ave. SW.

The clinic will be the company’s fifth location in the region.

It is scheduled to open on May 1.

The 2,500-square-foot office will provide outpatient orthopedic physical therapy, sports medicine, workers’ compensation and injury-prevention services.

CPR has nearly 70 employees at outpatient clinics in southeast Grand Rapids, Wyoming, Belmont and Walker.

Chris Nawrocki, partner and COO of CPR, said the new clinic will serve downtown Grand Rapids’ growing residential and working populations that “currently do not have sufficient access to" orthopedic and sports medicine physical therapy services.

“Our new Arena Place clinic will allow us to better serve patients who would otherwise need to drive to the suburbs for treatment,” Nawrocki said.

The location will be setup to be convenient for patients living or working downtown by providing them with free parking and treatment options before and after work, as well as "between meetings" and during lunch.

CPR staff and patients will also have access to the 2,114-square-foot Arena Place fitness facility, which is located adjacent to the CPR office.

Concept Design in Grand Rapids is the architect for the Arena Place project, and Grand Rapids-basedOrion Construction is the project’s developer and contractor.
