GRAND RAPIDS, MI – The 100 apartments at Arena Place are starting to be pre-leased as the $45 million retail, office and apartment project enters the final stages of construction.

Erica Gomez, property manager for the apartment portion of Arena Place, said she has already leased four apartments since last week, when she opened a model apartment showroom in 25 Ottawa Ave. SW, next door to the construction site at 55 Ottawa Ave. SW.

Gomez said they plan to move their first tenants into the fifth-floor units after April 30. Tenants will move into the apartments in the sixth through tenth floor over the following three weeks, she said.

One-bedroom apartments are renting for $1,325 to $1,890 a month, while two-bedroom apartments will cost $1,725 to $2,090 a month, Gomez said. Each apartment will include a parking space in the 280-space garage located below the apartments.

Each apartment will feature open floor plans and kitchens that include stainless steel appliances and quartz countertops. The bedrooms will feature carpeted flooring and walk-in closets.

Eighty percent of the apartments will have balconies that either overlook the Van Andel Arena and the South Arena District or the city's West Side. Each unit will have its own stackable washer and dryer, she said. Tenants also will have access to a fitness center and a rooftop clubhouse.

The office building on the north side of the project also is progressing toward a completion date in late spring or early summer, according to Corey Bixby, director of marketing and public relations for Orion Construction.

The 376,347-square-foot building will serve as the home for the law firm of Miller Johnson, Do More Good, formerly Hanon/McKendry, and Meritage Hospitality Group. Meritage also plans to open The Wheelhouse, a full-service restaurant on the building's ground floor.
