ROCKFORD, MI — A 54-room boutique hotel is coming to downtown Rockford in 2021, and the developer says they’re also looking to bring 100 spaces of public parking as well.
The three-story Hotel Rose planned for 12 South Main St. will feature an indoor pool, fitness center, a lobby bar, restaurant, parlor and 170-seat banquet room, according to the developer, West Michigan-based Orion Real Estate Solutions.
“Everything from the staff, to the amenities and appointments, to furniture has been designed with intent,” ORES President John Wheeler said in a statement. “When you arrive, your shoulders will drop, your mind will clear, and you’ll see that Hotel Rose is an experience, not just a hotel.”
Josh Wheeler, vice president of communications at ORES, said the look of the Hotel Rose will be in keeping with the “the character, the charm and the elegance” of downtown Rockford.
“The rest of downtown Rockford’s character is so important for us to maintain and complement,” he said.
On the Main Street side, Hotel Rose will have a “turn-of-the century” front porch “with circa 1900s wooden tables, chain-hung chandeliers and rocking chairs,” according to ORES.
Construction is planned to start in early 2020. Opening is planned for sometime in 2021.

In addition to the hotel, ORES also is planning to bring an estimated 100 public parking spaces downtown separate from those provided at the hotel, said Josh Wheeler with ORES.
The exact location, construction timeline, parking design and number of spots will be announced following the finalization of a parking study being conducted by ORES, Rockford and architectural firm Ghafari/Concept Design. The study could be completed in the next couple months, Josh Wheeler said.
The hotel and parking plans were born from opportunities and conversations about downtown Rockford’s needs after Orion Construction led the project to restore the fire-damaged, iconic Corner Bar in Rockford, according to Josh Wheeler.
City Manager Thad Beard said there’s a “fundamental need” in downtown Rockford for additional parking and a hotel.
“These are cornerstones to supporting tourism, convenience, and enjoyment in Rockford,” Beard said in a statement. “Hotel Rose further engages our community and supports business and tourism goals within our master plan.”
Josh Wheeler said potential audiences for the Hotel Rose include families and individuals coming to town for events, recreation and business.
