A pair of business partners are bringing a taste of Cuba to Grand Rapids next week.
Stefan Nava and his business partner, Brian LaFranboise, will host a grand opening for their restaurant, Danzón Cubano — at 1 Carlton Ave. SE on the first floor of the Fulton Square development in the city’s Eastown neighborhood — on Oct. 26.
The restaurant will offer live music and salsa dancing, as well as an array of Cuban dishes representing “a blend of Native American, Spanish, African and Caribbean cuisines,” Nava said.
“Our intent is to open a venue for everyone in the community and show the deliciousness of the cuisine and awesome vividness of the music and culture,” Nava said.
Danzón Cubano will serve “Cuban staples”: tostones rellenos (filled plantain bowl appetizers); croquetas; ceviche; empanadas; yuca fries; camarones al ajillo (garlic shrimp); paella; and Cuban sandwiches, soups and desserts.
It will also offer a vegan and vegetarian menu.
Traditional Cuban soft drinks will be available, as well as a variety of housemade craft cocktails: Hemingway Especial, El Floridita, Cuba Libre, 90 Miles, Pina Colada, Mojito Classico, Sangria Rojo, Habana Vieja and El Presidente.
The restaurant will be open from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-midnight Friday-Saturday and 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday.
