Improvements coming to 2 Kentwood park facilities this spring
| 2/07/19
Project Summary
As part of a series of updates to their parks, the City of Kentwood approved funding for improvements on an existing building and activities center at their Veterans Memorial Park. The upgrades provided benefits to seniors and other visitors, including: a safer covered entrance, energy efficiencies, and signage.
“The new structure will allow the walkway to serve as a safer landing zone for senior citizens. By protecting the entrance from rain and snow, the portico allows patrons to come and go without the worry of navigating slippery pavement,” said Kentwood Parks and Recreation director, Val Romeo.
Renovation and construction activities included site preparation and grading, landscaping, removal and replacement of standing seam roof panels, exterior painting, and removal and replacement of windows on the front of the building. The new entrance portico installation was pre-fabricated, along with concrete footings and stone column wraps. Lastly, a new digital LED marquee entrance sign was installed, including a masonry base, electrical work, paving and landscaping.
