Grand Rapids-based Adventure Credit Union will break ground next week on the single-story, stand-alone location in Wyoming, at 5165 Wilson Ave.

Grand Rapids-based Orion Construction, the general contractor on the project, said it hopes to have the building ready by early 2018.

The consolidating branches will remain open until the new location opens.

The new building is a continuation of Adventure’s strategic plan to relocate its strip-mall locations into stand-alone branches at locations that allow for drive-thru services, on-site parking and road visibility.

There are two nearby Adventure locations — a strip-mall location in Wyoming, at 2355 Health Dr. SW, and a stand-alone branch in Jenison, at 1240 Chicago Dr.

“This new building is the continuation of our overall branch strategy — which provides the best locations and conveniences for our members,” said Karen Wietzke, EVP, Adventure Credit Union. “The Adventure team searched throughout the area to find the best location to service our current membership, as well as provide growth opportunities.”

The new branch was designed by Grand Rapids-based Concept Design and features a drive-up ATM and two drive-up interactive teller machines, or ITMs.

The interior of the branch includes a self-serve kiosk, digital and light-box displays in line with the credit union’s “craft banking” branding and three additional ITMs. In-person financial services will be available as well.

Orion Construction will break ground on the new location on the same day the companies celebrate a ribbon-cutting for a new Kentwood location.

The construction firm has now partnered with Adventure on several projects, and Orion President Roger Rehkopf said he’s confident the building will speak to “the image and brand strength” Adventure is creating, beginning with its re-branding last year.

“The design, traffic flow and convenience features all play a part in this process, and our team does its best every day to recognize the importance of this,” Rehkopf said.
