GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Orion Construction Inc. announced it has completed office renovations for the riverfront offices of VDS, a business communications firm headquartered at 210 Front Ave SW.

Renovations to the 3-story office building included a new entry way, common space, board room, executive offices, stairwells, bathrooms and cabling for state-of-the-art technology-based systems, according to a news release by Orion on Monday, April 13.

VDS
, which employs 60, acquired the 14,000-square-foot building last November, relocating from its former offices on Oak Industrial Drive NE.

Founded in 1989, VDS was formerly a division of the building's previous occupant, Feyen Zylstra, which moved to new corporate headquarters in Walker.

"The 1930's riverfront building has great history and the former owners did a fantastic job preserving much of the historical character on the inside of the building," said VDS President, R. James Kress.

"It was very important to me to keep that historical character through the renovation while keeping the working space functional and relevant," Kress said.

"I always wanted my business to be in downtown Grand Rapids, so when Feyen Zylstra outgrew the space and it came up for sale I knew we had to go back to the property," Kress said. "Our new location created enhanced operational efficiencies and a more collaborative environment.

"The space will help us continue to grow and evolve to keep pace with our client's needs, allowing us to provide exceptional solutions and superior service along the way," said Kress.
